Fox Fur vs. Mink Fur: Which Luxury Coat Is Right for You?
Choosing between a fox fur coat and a mink fur coat is the first decision most buyers face. Both are genuine luxury furs, but they look, feel, and wear very differently.
Fox fur: volume, drama, and colour
Fox fur has long guard hairs and a dense underfur, which gives it that unmistakable plush, airy silhouette. It is the fur of choice for oversized lapels, hooded maxi coats, and striped panel designs, and it takes dye beautifully, which is why our fox pieces are available in dozens of colours, from natural red fox and silver fox to golden island and frost fox.
Mink fur: sleek, dense, and understated
Mink has short, even hairs and a remarkably smooth hand feel. It drapes close to the body, so mink coats read as refined rather than theatrical. A shawl-collar full-length mink coat or a stand-collar cropped mink coat is the quieter kind of luxury.
How to choose
- Want presence and photographs that stop people? Choose fox.
- Want a coat you can wear to the office and to dinner? Choose mink.
- Live somewhere very cold and windy? Fox fur's longer pile traps more air.
- Travel often? Mink's density makes it more compact and hard-wearing.
Sizing note
For both furs, we recommend choosing a size 4–8 cm larger than your actual chest measurement for a comfortable fit. We also offer larger sizes and fully custom sizing — contact us to place a custom order.
